Description: The Metzner Basic edition Dwarf (MD) was smaller than the 4e dwarf so I adjusted the height & weight averages down. The MD had the same type of saving throws as the halfling did so I could not justify giving them an additional bonus because they are “resistant to magic” without giving it to the halfling as well. So no Dwarven Resistence Power
Other Details: The MD could not use longbows or the 2-handed sword. They could use staff, battleaxe, & polearms. So I made the 4e Dwarf not able to use 2-handed heavy blades or longbows.
- Special Abilities:
- Vision – I gave them darkvision to 10 hexes/squares (50’). This will give them the same range of vision in the dark that a human has with a 4e lantern.
- Languages – Added the Languages known of Gnoll, Goblin, & Kobold. I also added the additional language for each Int mod bonus. With over 30 languages in the Brun area spending a feat per language or even a feat for 3 languages (linguist) is a little high.
- Detection – MD had bonuses to detection but Gaz6 (pg 6-7) states that if you are using the optional skill section “then the dwarves’ special abilities of detection become general skills.”
